Theatre & Song: a workshop exploring voice, text and movement

02.NOVEMBER.2019 • 10:30 - 17:30

Jerwood Space
171 Union Street
London SE1 0LN

Part of Reboot, our artist development programme.

Singer Melanie Pappenheim and director Emma Bernard have been devising sung theatre together for 15 years in collaboration with composers and performers of diverse disciplines.

Through exercises using both the singing voice and spoken text, participants will explore stage presence and the many exciting possibilities of combining voice, text and movement. We will share new ways to develop material through a series of musical performance games, and sing familiar tunes in surprising ways and unlikely contexts.

This workshop is open to performers and performance makers from all disciplines.

Melanie Pappenheim has worked as a singer and performer with many leading theatre and dance companies including DV8, Jasmin Vardimon Company, CLOD ENSEMBLE, Protein Dance, Random Dance and Siobhan Davies.

Emma Bernard has devised and directed projects for companies including The Royal Opera House, Streetwise Opera, Thames Festival and BBC Concert Orchestra.

Theatre & Song is free to attend but places are limited. If you are interested in taking part, please send your CV and an expression of interest to reboot@clodensemble.com by Wednesday 23 October, 10am.
