Physical Thinking: Cells

22.JUNE.2019 • 10:00 - 13:30

Cecil Sharp House
2 Regent’s Park Road
London NW1 7AY

Part of Reboot, our artist development programme.

Many scientists and researchers have testified that understanding particular processes and making discoveries is influenced by a sense and feel for their objects of inquiry that is embodied and kinesthetic – rather than simply a consequence of their thinking minds.

This workshop will explore the ways that we can investigate, experiment with and gain a sense of particular kinds of scientific entities: specifically different types of body cells, through movement.

Participants will be introduced to the features and processes of different types of cells (white blood cells, skin, nerve and brain cells, stem cells) and explore ways of cultivating a sense and feel of cells through movement – exploring their life histories, forms and motivations.

This workshop is suitable for performers / practitioners from a movement background, ideally with some knowledge of Jacques Lecoq’s teaching.

Led by Suzy Willson, Artistic Director of CLOD ENSEMBLE; and Dr David Hay, Senior Lecturer in Higher Education and leader for the elearning team at King’s College London.

Physical Thinking is free to attend but places are limited. If you are interested in taking part, please send your CV and an expression of interest to reboot@clodensemble.com by Wednesday 12 June, 10am.
