Exploring the Body in Brain and Mind

23.NOVEMBER.2018 • 10:00 - 16:30

The Studio
39 Whippingham Road
Brighton, BN2 3PF

Part of Reboot, our artist development programme.

Join Dr Tamara Russell to explore Body in Brain and Mind from her unique blended perspective of neuroscience, martial arts and clinical psychology. This approach supports integration of body and mind via a bi-directional link between the brain and the body. The moving body is currently an under-utilised tool to promote health and well-being. From the simple to the profound, the body as a teacher and movements as the classroom, the moving body has it all when it comes to healing. Offering interdisciplinary brain-wise explorations, this workshop will take participants on a personal journey that may surprise, delight or even shock. Tamara will share some martial arts inspired practices that illuminate the links between body and mind. Exercises from her book Mindfulness in Motion will be shared to illustrate these points.

Dr. Tamara Russell is a clinical psychologist and martial arts instructor who advises individuals and organisations on how to use mindfulness techniques to optimize performance and improve mental and physical well-being. She is the Director of the (currently virtual) Mindfulness Centre of Excellence, London, which has as its aim the evaluation of creative yet authentic mindfulness applications for all spheres of life.

Exploring the Body in Brain and Mind is free to attend but places are limited. If you are interested in taking part, please send your CV and an expression of interest to reboot@clodensemble.com by Thursday 22 November, 10am.

Exploring the Body in Brain and Mind is also taking place in London on Saturday 24 November – more information here.
