Performance makers are increasingly producing the music and sound design for their shows themselves, rather than working alongside an experienced sound engineer. Producing audio for the stage and other performance spaces can present headaches, particularly when moving between simple domestic speaker systems or headphones to an ultra hi-fi professional, multi-speaker set up in a large space.
This workshop will explore solutions to resolving common mixing issues, share tips for listening to your mixes like an engineer, and provide an opportunity to experiment using multi-speaker systems.
Suitable for performance makers from all disciplines who have limited experience using digital audio software.
Led by Dan Cox, Producer and Engineer at Urchin Studios, and Paul Clark, Co-Artistic Director and Composer for CLOD ENSEMBLE.
Dan has worked with dozens of leading artists, including Florence and the Machine, Tom Odell, Pete Doherty, Lianne La Havas, Ghostpoet, Laura Marling and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). Paul has created original scores for theatres and found spaces of all sizes, from black box studios to the National Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall and Hamburg Schauspiel.
