Reboot: Instruction based micro-performance with Silvia Mercurilali

Silvia is one of the pioneers of the strategy of AUTOTEATRO, which she developed for her show Etiquette in 2007. She has used this performance strategy – applying it, stretching it and moulding it to different technologies and in different contexts, constantly inviting audiences to question what is real and what is not. At the heart of AUTOTEATRO work is a fascination with people coping with tasks, live and unrehearsed.

This workshop offers participants the chance to explore both the different ways of implementing this strategy and the many issues it raises. Please bring headphones, some paper and a pen.

SILVIA MECURIALI is a physical performer and maker who’s been working in theatre since 1998, creating events, site-specific installation, experimental theatre shows and immersive performances. She has worked as a performer in the UK and abroad with companies such as Shunt devising and performing in Tropicana for the National Theatre and Money; Clod Ensemble in Red Ladies, Under Glass and An Anatomie in Four Quarters; Vincent Dance Company in Underworld; and more recently Punchdrunk for Autumn, a 12hrs live stream for HBO’s TV series The Thirds Day.
