This production is about many things, one of which was how easily our mood can be manipulated – something which music can do very well. As a consequence, the score for Placebo is hugely diverse.
The entire score was recorded and played back over a very simple sound rig. A selection from the original show soundtrack is scheduled to be released next year.
Two clips below demonstrate the technique of vocal sampling and musical layering.
Music written, performed and produced by Paul Clark
‘My Lonely Lungs’ monologue written by Peggy Shaw
“a cleverly-constructed melange of classical fugue, clubby EDM and a collage of sound clips gathered from far and wide, which explore mood and meaning and emotional and physical wellbeing, composed and assembled by Paul Clark.”
