Healthcare is an intense site of ritual and performance; and placebo studies have explored the performative aspects of being a healthcare professional. This short taster workshop will introduce some simple arts based exercises and methods to explore elements such tone of voice, non-verbal communication, objects and space, scenery and language, and how they impact on healthcare interactions.

Suzy Willson is Artistic Director of CLOD ENSEMBLE and creator of their Performing Medicine programme. She is Honorary Professor at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary. Suzy has been pioneering the use of arts in healthcare education for over 20 years working with a range of medical schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts, as well as curating public events with leading cultural venues across the UK.
