30 years of Clod Ensemble

For 30 years, Clod Ensemble has created interdisciplinary artistic work that pushes the boundaries of choreographic, music and theatre practice. Led by artists Suzy Willson & Paul Clark, working collaboratively with inspiring artists and thinkers, we create opportunities for people to move, create, listen and imagine.

Our projects and performances have spanned a myriad of themes, scales and locations, from traditional concert halls and theatres to visual arts galleries, public spaces, community centres and hospitals. Looking back over three decades of practice, we can see clear underpinnings that connect all of this work – the spaces of possibility that emerge when we resist categorisation; the powerful relationship between our patterns of movement and the spaces which we inhabit; the desire and need for multiple perspectives; and the profound interconnectedness of what we see and hear.

This anniversary year, we invite you to experience the power of music, movement and performance with us. Our 2025 programme begins with a reconstruction of Zero, a work from our repertoire, followed by a new collaboration with students at Royal Northern College of Music, and then a return to the Barbican for a limited run of The Black Saint & The Sinner Lady

We’ll continue to share key works, images, music from the company’s history on our website and across streaming platforms, alongside launching new projects and programmes. Stay tuned.
