The role of the composer has changed a lot over the last 50 years – many artists are looking collaborate and work more closely with the musicians performing their work. Rakhi Singh, co-Artistic Director of Manchester Collective, has both written and commissioned many pieces.

In this discussion, Rakhi talks to Paul Clark about ways she has worked with different artists – some working with purely acoustic music, and others using electronics – and shares some of her favourite recordings from the Manchester Collective archive.
