On 9th & 10th November 2023, Clod Ensemble and Nu Civilisation Orchestra transformed Shoreditch Town Hall into a whirlwind of movement, music and Mingus.
Our unique staging of The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, the seminal album from jazz bassist/bandleader/composer Charles Mingus, was received by sell-out crowds for both nights of its run.
Part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady received coverage on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune as well as a five-star review in The Guardian.
“A joyful celebration of movement […] it’s a delight to be caught up in it, swept up in a wave with the simple pleasure of synchrony, community and great music.”
