This piece was based around some intense pulsing piano motifs, with moments of sometimes silly comic relief, including a pastiche of the music from Carry On Doctor and a Tango.
The only recording we have is a rough demo recording – with a rather out-of-tune piano – made for use in the rehearsal room. This was the first time the players saw this often difficult music.
Clip 1 is from a nocturnal passage, Clip 2 is a tango for a section in which a troubled relationship between two doctors becomes unwound.
This was a largely wordless piece, with the live score performed by a band to the side of the stage.
