Seven centuries of ‘authoritative’ medical imagery – Medieval illuminated manuscripts, Renaissance anatomy textbooks, nineteenth century photographic records, contemporary neurological studies of ‘unexplained symptoms’ – are set on a collision course in a startling piece of music theatre.
Scored for strings, piano and percussion by Paul Clark, Kiss My Echo turns the anatomist’s knife on the anatomists and gives the herbalist a dose of their own medicine. In doing so, it reveals the crisis at the heart of the modern hospital.
This piece formed part of the initial research and development for Clod Ensemble’s award-winning Performing Medicine initiative.
