Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire is one of the
most influential pieces of twentieth century music.
"The solar plexus as well as the mind of early
twentieth century music." Igor Stravinsky
Clod Ensemble's production of this seminal piece is
sung in German. The ensemble of musicians create an extraordinary lunar
sculpture onto which Alice Oswald's beautiful English translation of the
text is projected.
The audience are free to walk around the musicians, getting
as close as they dare, making Schoenberg's darkly comic masterpiece an
unforgettable musical experience.
The dream-scent of a dream world
works its magic on my mind
and a swarm of absurd ideas
hums and buzzes in mid-air.
